Mystery Train
"How do you solve a mystery when everyone is a suspect? It's 1893, and some of the world's brightest minds are traveling by train to the World's Fair in Chicago. But after a dastardly crime puts the fate of the Fair in peril, only you can piece together the clues and collar the criminal. All aboard for a whodunit that will keep you guessing until the last twist of the tracks!"
You will receive a Train Ticket from Edison. Hurrah! Board the train and find Edison!
Go left. Click the guy in the first cart. Click on the last speech bubble, and he will give you a telegram. Go left. Enter S.B. Anthony's room and talk to the lady. She will give you a Women's Suffrage Pamphlet. Now exit the room. Go left, until you reach Mark Twain's room. From there, go a bit more left and grab the pencil on the table. |
Keep going left, passing by the porter. He/She somehow looks similar to you (foreshadow!). Now that you have talked to everyone else, go back and talk to Edison. This is when a long cutscene, as well as when your case, begins!
YOU'RE ON THE CASE!
Talk to the NY Times Reporter. He will give you a clue.
Proceed to Mark Twain's cabin, which is right beside Edison's cabin. Go right until you reach a door that says "Mark Twain". Enter it. Talk to Mark Twain, and he will be a bit nervous. You will have to test the wall for a secret compartment. It is the 3rd one on the 2nd row. |
Oops! It was just a book! But something happened! The train suddenly stopped! Click on the guy below you, and the train will start moving again. Now go left, and enter Susan B. Anthony's room. Talk to her. She will give you a new clue.
Go back to the first cart and talk to the coal man. Ask him what he was doing around the passenger's luggage.
He's only getting a snack? Now go left until you reach the porter. Talk to him.
On your way, stop in front of Edison's door. Prune juice stains on the floor! Examine it.
Talk to the porter. So the coal man did get a snack! That got rid of that clue. Now ask about the prune juice. He says the orders are confidential. He rips out a page and it flies away. You will automatically collect the porter's notebook. Click on the notebook, and you will ask yourself if you could find the imprints. Use your pen from earlier. Colour the middle part of the sheet and this is what you should get: |
Go right, into the luggage area. There you will see the Mademoiselle. She will tell you to dress like the porter since you look like him/her (foreshadow!) to enter Tesla's room and "give him a drink". Now enter the porter room and click on the clothes to change into the Porter Outfit! (TIP: You MUST put on the whole outfit or else it won't work.)
Go right and click on Tesla's door. Now you can enter and talk to him. Click on the prune juice on the table beside the door and give it to him. He needs to go to the bathroom. Now you can search his stuff!
The hidden luggage key of Tesla is hidden under the first pillow (Look at the second photo below).

Exit his room, and return left to the luggage/porter cart. Use your key on the luggage with the coal marks on it.
It's in there! But was it really Tesla? Watch the cutscene. Below is a summary. Tesla was on the other side of the train when it was stolen, so who really was the thief?

Go and talk to Tesla by going right towards the coal cart. You will be blocked by a police officer. He is your new clue. Now go back left to the luggage cart. Stop at Tesla's luggage and look up. Go up the secret passage. When you are on the roof of the train, continue right. Jump or duck when you see a flashing red on your right. Remember to jump in between carts or else you will fall off and restart!
Once you make it to the other cart, enter it and talk to Tesla. Give him your pen, and you will get a Sketch of Tesla's Cabin. Now you can go left, and enter Tesla's cabin. |
Examine the sketch. Click the pencil and circle the briefcase by Tesla's bed. That's what's different. Go back to tell Tesla, but in order to go back you need to go on the roof again.
When you tell him the briefcase is open, is is shocked. "Oh no!" is his reaction. Something important was in that case; his invention, and the key to the briefcase was still around his neck! What?
Go left and enter Erik Weisz's room. He will tell you that the key was picked by an expert.
Houdini comes back, and escapes once you tell him his true identity. Follow him by going up.
When you get on the roof, keep going left and fall down the RED entrance, the same one Houdini fell down.
You will realize he fell into a tank. Use your scissors to cut the rope.

Picking the lock is really easy. Just try doing it fast. Once you free him, he tells you that someone stole one of his lock picks. Find the culprit now! He gives you a new hint.
Go back to Tesla by going on the roof. To free him, use your lock pick set. He tells you he was hiding a transformer capable of generating many watts!.

Go left and talk to Mark Twain in his room. He will give you a vital clue.
Now go to the last car!
But wait! You will encounter a trap-cart. Below is how you pass it. (Sorry, some parts are weirdly joint)

Now go left and meet the mystery man. Wait....it's President Cleveland of the United States! Talk to him and he will piece everything together!
Time to catch the thief! Go right to the luggage cart now!
Use your key to unlock it. Once you do, click on the cloth. What? What's that underneath?!

Go left and talk to Eiffel. Once you do, the train will stop. Guess who the real thief was? That's right....Mademoiselle Moreau!
When you get off the train, go left. Follow where the Mademoiselle goes!

THE CHASE BEGINS!
For this part I couldn't make a good photo walkthrough. Hopefully you will still understand what it means!
Finally, you end the chase saving the transformer as well as the day! The Mademoiselle is trapped and captured, and you get a commemorative medal from the President. Congratulations!
